I saw this film shown on British TV, and it was the English-language soundtrack version. But I guess there is a Czech soundtrack version too?
Anyone confirm this, and also whether any available DVD release has both versions (plus subtitles)?
I have a Czech version with English sub titles on DVD which was taken from a VHS recorded from TV!!!.. The video quality is ok to poor and the first 30 seconds is missing :( The Czech version was the first I saw and I think it is much better. The English dialogue tries too hard and is "cheesy" compared to the more austere Czech . I've tried too get a "real" Czech version by emailing video stores in the Czech republic but have had no luck.. So if anybody has an authentic Czech copy I’d really appreciate knowing how they got it.
I think it's really poor that you can't get hold of czech language DVDs of Alice or Faust anywhere. It should at least be an option on the disc... in this day and age that's kind of sad.
maybe bittorrents are the way to go?
OK.. I have a DVD version in the Czech language with english subs... I restored and re-mastered the sound track from my old VHS copy (now excellent condition ) extracted the Video from a purchased DVD- and re- multiplexed.
Then I retyped the subtitles and overlayed them (distructive edit I'm sorry )..
I guess if you want the sound track and subs I can post them somewhere for download and then all you need to do is purchase a legit copy and edit as above.
If somebody knows how to add a sub file and re-author the DVD so you can turn on/off via a menue pls share the knowledge!! Thanks

I've come across a supposed Czech language version but the audio all still seems off to me. Can anyone confirm whether or not that's how this movie actually is? Was it just originally with out of sync audio? I've been trying to find video of Petr Cepek's actual voice to see if I'm just working off of another version, ha.
