BOB SAGET HAS PRODUCED A MASTERPIECE

Bob Saget has done it again. I highly recommend this clean cut, wholesome, conservative family film for everybody. Not only were my kids laughing, but so was myself and Grandpa!! Grandpa hasn't laughed since they cancelled the Dean Martin Roasts!! (God bless Angie Dickinson and Rich Little!) I saw this film on my TV Guide, it was scheduled for 2:30 AM Tuesday morning on ABC Family and I knew that I HAD to tape this film. Boy was I right, Bob Saget knows how to make you laugh! Boy, that bear scene still has me chuckling. And it's loaded with so many of Bob's Trademark one liners. I found myself repeating them all over the office the next day. (and month for that matter) I'm personally a huge fan of mid-90's children's movies. (Homeward bound, Beethoven... gotta love em') Anyway, do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and try and find this at your local video store (it's usually in the back) or look for when this film will next air (usually between Midnight and Six AM). You will thank me so many times for showing you this all-american quailty clean-cut film. Verdad, son!

I'm sorry, but the adjective "masterpiece" is in my opinion over the top. This was an acceptable family film, but it was highly predictable and lacked any real emotional power in addressing the making of a father-and-son bond. If you want to see a true masterpiece in this genre, check out "The Cowboys," a 1972 film starring John Wayne, who plays an elderly rancher in need of help for a cattle drive. With all adult cowboys away during a gold rush, Wayne finds the help he needs in a disparate batch of pre-teen and early-teen boys, whom he reluctantly hires. Although he is distant and gruff to the children at first, the boys come to see him as a father figure worthy of their love and respect. This is a movie even for those who may not be John Wayne fans, so give it a try -- and maybe you'll find the word "masterpiece" a better fit for this film.
