shareAside from having some naked women in it, and being generally mysterious, it is nothing like EWS. In fact, the script is quite a bit better.
(I won't say the directing is better simply because I can't put Egoyan on the same level as Kubrick... yet. And yes, I know Kubrick didn't direct ALL of EWS.)

but let me add that i've enjoyed both movies very much.
Perhaps both movies have a kinda similar "mood". But other than that, they aren't related in the least.
EWS is a "Dream Story" (actually that's the name of the novel upon which EWS is based), while 'Exotica' is set in a realistic and tangible world.
Eyes Wide Shut and Exotica are both very good films (though EWS had the flaw of Nicole Kidman in a small role imo).
But they do share a mysterious feel to them. There's a dark atmosphere in them both, because they deal with men being entertained by women, and developing deeper bonds with them than physical lust.
I saw Exotica for the first time today, and I immediately though of Eyes Wide Shut in the first night-club scene. I guess it was the mix of naked women and mysterious oriental music which is very similar to the orgy scene in EWS. Beyond that, the two are very different
