Were private dances at strip clubs ever only five Canadian dollars?

I first started visiting strip clubs in Toronto in 1999, and even back then, you weren't likely to get table dances for less than ten dollars each. And in the VIP rooms, private dances would be even more expensive. They might cost twenty dollars or more. This film came out just five years earlier, in 1994, so I can't believe prices would have been that much cheaper at the time. Were there really strip clubs in Toronto in the mid 1990s, at the time this film came out, where private dances only cost five dollars?

Not sure, but maybe it was a generous strip club...folksy. Everyone seems to know everyone and the strippers will end up getting more money in tips anyway.

In the late '80s I used to frequent a place called Shaker's Lounge in the Plaza Hotel in Kingston, ON and, to the best of my recollection, the table dances were priced at $5.

Obviously, Kingston is much cheaper than Toronto in terms of nightlife entertainment - and I'm referencing 1986-87 - but there you have it.

It makes the film look dated now, but $5 for no-touch dances would've been normal for '94. It had been that price for awhile. I think the going rate increased to $10 at some point in the mid-90s. Then when contact dances were allowed in Ontario it went up to $20.

I remember fully nude table dances at $5 without any touching from the mid eighties all the way to whenever they changed the laws and allowed touching in the booths, then it went up to $10/a song, probably in the mid nineties and a lot of the strip clubs in Montreal are still at that price, some are $15.

Remember that it's only a movie.
The stripper doesn't even strip!
How realistic is that?!
