Guilty Pleasure

This film had poential but failed. I will admitt I own the DVD for the
Domm parts, and Dana Delany's nudity but It could have been better.

1:This was suspose to be a S&M film, and they blew it.
2:Dana looks great but should have been allowed to really be a Dominatrix
3:I haven't read the book but from what I have heard It was a S&M story
In which the Domm fell for her slave
4:Some will call me crazy but here Is the only time I ever have thought
Rosie O'Donnel was appealling. I would have liked her to actully be
seen having to be a Dominatrix on the Island, and ends up enjoying it,and
at the end staying on the Island
5: Iman looks good In the scene In red Leather, and she should also have
been seen as a Domm
6: I would have lost the New Orleans part, and keep most of the film on the
Island.

... for me rosie o´donnel´s strip- dancing was too short: i really enjoyed it, i want to see more of that - it´s so very, very funny!

Yes, Rosie was VERY good in this movie. Funny, sharp-witted and sharp-tongued. I realize much of that is in the script, but her delivery and timing enhance the writing.

And, yes--she did look good. Large, perhaps, but not fat, and definitely not flabby.

if they had gone any further it would have been NC-17...

i would have enjoyed that more though but alot of people would have been put off by that kinda thing...

Dana nude. That is pretty much all that makes it worth wild. She is just stunning.

The book is definetely more into the BDSM side; though the emphasis is on the BD more so than sadism/masichism. Spanking for punishment & pleasure rather than just for pain. Or at least that was my take on it.

Agree to most of the points but empathizing with film makers, I guess, it was a choice between (1) a substantial film for limited audience who understands BDSM or (2) a commercial hit for large audience with funny, palatable BDSM.

reply

Agreed. I thought it was a bit weird that an S&M movie was a comedy. It sounds almost avant-garde, but the truth is that the subject matter probably already isolated a good chunk of the movie's target audience and if the moviemakers had chosen to go dramatic instead of comedic, they would have isolated a good portion of the rest of their commercial audience.

Yup, my guilty pleasure, too.

Dana nude--yum yum.

And, Rosie looked good and did a darn good job. Too bad she's gone off the deep end.

You know I used to work at a video store around that time and this movie would always rent. People would rent it over and over and over again. So it must have been a guilty pleasure for many. Even when Big box office movies came out, they died a fast death than Exit to Eden did.

1.) I don't know how anyone could expect a serious movie about S And M, made in Hollywood and starring mostly A list (Well B list anyways) actors. There really hasn't been any movie before or since that focused on the subject matter.

2.) The movie starts to tire out in the second half. Your right it should never have gone to New Orleans, even if that was how it went in the book. It starts breaking tone and becomes a bit of a cop-show.

Rosie got that certain charm, on Hollywoods scale I guess she is "ugly girl" but on real world scale definately not, especially in that leather corset ;)

Too bad the BDSM parts were really wonky, badly and lazy done, few firm word deliveries would have made that part way more believable, but on the other hand not all BDSM people are the same and some do very light versions and others are just in it for the fetish gear etc.
