Forest Whitaker A Tad Overweight As Col. Casey!

Now I'm not picking on Forest Whitaker nor trying to be
overly harsh or mean. After all he is one of many
actors in Hollywood whom I like very much. I just
found him to be miscast as US Marine Lt. Col. Mac Casey.
After all Marines especially commissioned officers
are expected and required to keep in good physical
shape year round. No matter whether we are at war
or in peacetime. Though he was nowhere as huge as
George Zundza who also portrayed a Marine officer
in another movie which title I cannot remember!
Now Zundza was really miscast in a military role!

outstanding actor..but too young, and too heavy..officers at that rank and in that area of responsibility are usually fastidious about keeping in shape..john amos in the west wing, was burly, but obviously in top notch shape..kirk douglas was like chisled marble..robards was also miscast..a superb actor, but this general would command a room with his presence, and certainly robards did not..waterson was the most believable..good film, but the original was a classic..

Agreed. It was funny how many scenes in which Forest Whitaker had to run. I especially laughed at the scene in which he's running in sweats (but not sweating) being chased by the trim Russian agent who could not keep up with Whitaker.
