Does anyone know when Sony Classics is planning a theatrical release in the US? The official website just states "Coming Soon". Will this only get a limited release in NY, and L.A. or will it be more widely distributed? I hope it does not just go to DVD and it gets a US run.
shareDon't know yet when the theatrical release is scheduled for, but I can confirm that it will be playing outside of NY and LA. Earlier today I was passing by Landmark's Uptown Theatre here in Minneapolis, and noticed a "coming attractions" poster for the Redux in the window. So Mpls. as well...

If you want Ashes of Time Redux on blu-ray, you have to order artificial eye's version which is from the UK. The film itself is region free and plays fine (I've tried it myself). The extras however are region locked so you will not be able to see those. You can either import the version from amazon.co.uk that is blu ray, or buy the sony dvd. I guess it depends how much you really want the extras and if you are willing to sacrifice picture quality for it.

The Blu ray transfer really does look amazing, the cinematography breathtaking. The only way to really enjoy this film is with a 1080p projectoron a 100+ inch screen.
