Ripoff

Point break and Diehard anyone?

reply

don't you mean "Terminal Velocity" with another expert female sky diver that tricks Charlie Sheen into thinking she dies in a sky diving accident? Came out the same year in September, so maybe it isn't a rip off just a coincidence but still the ideas are similar, only I think terminal velocity takes place in the west instead of the east coast.

Point Break was TOTALLY different! Gary Busey was a cop in that one, not the bad guy :) I don't get the Die Hard connection.

I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong.

Conflict, there is no connection besides skydiving and terrorists. Very broad. You are the ripoff.

The Die Hard connection is the scene at the end where Ty and his boys take over the DEA building. I wouldn't call it a ripoff by any means, but there were scenes that reminded me of Die Hard. The clueless security guys working the front desk, the scene where Jessie kicks through the glass window, and when Pete is going down the elevator shaft.
"WAKE UP! IT'S RHYMETYME!!!!!"

Not to mention the scene where Snipes has a fight with a baddie on the roof, they both fall down a flight a stairs, and baddie breaks his neck.

Later, Snipes sends the body crashing down through an elevator roof in front of head bad guy.

It was a rip off, plain and simple.

Its not really a rip off but its the same type of formula as point break.

Undercover cop joins a group of people who are all fanatics of the same sport / interest to get the bad guy.

However i'd say The Fast and the Furious was more a rip off of point break but with cars instead of surfers. Even the ending where they both let their friend / major criminal go.

I dont really see the die hard connection either lol

I wouldn't call it a rip off, had some similarities but stood well on it's own. Extremely fun 90's movie.
