difficult to believe

It is very difficult to believe that Michael Douglas would resist having sex with Demi Moore after her coming on to him like that. He is supposed to have high moral standards? There is no way I could have told her no. Even if I was a happily married man. But thats just me. Have to be honest. And im sure ill get slack on her but that is just how i feel and im sure a lot of men do too.

It's not that difficult to believe. Tom (Douglas's character) had a lot to lose by sleeping with Meredith (Moore). He was happily married with children and was emotionally involved with his wife - with Meredith it was purely physical.

The significant part of that scene (which they actually explain better in the book) is when he catches sight of himself in the mirror and realises what he looks like. In the book it says he sees that he looks old, an old married man and how ridiculous the situation is. So, to an extent, yes he does guess that she's setting him up somehow and that she an ulterior motive of some kind but ultimately it's when he looks in the mirror and realises what he's doing and what the consequences of his actions will be when he goes through with it.

"He murders his wife every night. Other than that, I think he's pretty harmless."

Besides, Demi looked like she would be a bitter babe in bed. I would pass too.

That sex would be probably the best sex I would've ever had in my entire life(that isn't saying much of course, but come on Demi Moore)!!!

yes, I was captivated by this film and the theme of 'consequences'. I am a buddhist and find the subject of 'karma flowering' fascinating. I think this is a big topic in the film. There is old karma flowering everywhere, in their old relationship coming back to haunt them, in Demi Moor's character and actions being revealed at the end. It is a film about moral's and karma and making ethical choices, even in the computer industry!!

I loved that bit when he saw himself in the mirror, that is when a human being 'reflects' on ethical consequences, and it was witnessed by the cleaning woman... her reaction too.

The film reminded me of 'A Few Good Men' and the denouement at the end of that, when someone gets their karmic comeuppance..

Maybe the Disclosure film should have been called Karma Harvesting!??

*And* he's quite aware of the inevitable mess sleeping with a co-worker (let alone his boss, let alone his former GF boss, etc., etc.) causes.

I read the book recently and don't remember the movie well, but if that had been me I would have backed off immediately, before there was much of anything to cause a ruckus. There are some things in life you don't need to have experienced to know they should really be avoided.

Well, I suppose men don´t like to feel like a capture, am I right? And she didn´t even try to seduce him, she went brutally after him. Were I man, I wouldn´t find it a temptation!

Absolutely. There's no man short of a gay one or a castrated one who would refuse, men are simply wired that way. The movie was really pathetic in trying to convince the public that was possible.

Not sure if you're joking or not. Demi Moore was smoking hot here, and I would find it hard to believe that a single straight guy would resist her advances, but as was already said:

1) Sanders is married with kids.
2) Having an affair or sleeping with your boss could turn around to bite him in the ass and cause him to lose his highly-salaried job (and almost does anyway).
3) He doesn't know yet that he's being set-up, but he knows something is not right about the way Merideth is trying to sleep with him within 5 minutes of seeing her.

That is such a pathetic excuse and it is also another way of saying men are pigs. Here's a tip: don't get married if you still want to sleep around.

Hate men do you Jade lol.
There are lots of men with morals, maybe you choose to know men who don't. Yes lots of men are pigs, but I know lots of women who have affairs and would sleep in a second with the male equivalent of Demi Moore in this movie. I used to work as a fitness trainer and I had several married women try to have an affair with me (I turned them all down also).

In the book it is explained by the fact that she coughed right before penetration and that made him angry because he though that meant she was not that into it.

Not difficult for me to believe at all...

...if *I* had Katherine Zeta-Jones waiting for *me* at home, I'd drop Demi on her butt no more than a femtosecond after I heard the director say; "That's a wrap" at the end of each day.

#1 Sanders is worried about his job. What is explained to in the book, but only referenced in the movie is that DigiCom is planning to spin off Sadners' division and go public. All the execs; Sadners, Mark, etc... have stock options which can be worth millions. Sanders was actually expecting to get Meredith's job and is concerned about his own security. Sleeping with your boss can definately affect your position.

#2 Tom had already slept with her... repeatedly. Been there, done that.

Why is it so hard to believe that a man would want to keep his marriage vows? Lust is a powerful force, but it doesn't strip us of choice.
