I met Ariel Dorfman last night...

At the Toronto International Film Festival. It was a party for the documentary about him, "A Promise to the Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman" (2007) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1097260/), made in Canada by the same documentarist who did "Shake Hands With The Devil" (the documentary, not the theatrical film).

I asked him to remind me who played the villain in the film "Death and the Maiden". "Ben Kingsley", he said. I asked if he had ever considered Raul Julia for that part. He said: "Raul Julia was our first choice when we were casting for Broadway but he died before the play opened."

Just thought I'd share that.
