Why wasn't Russ Tyler in the shootout?
He has an unstoppable shot that scores everytime - wouldn't that have been useful in a shootout?

shareWhen Russ introduces his Knckle Puck he admits, "hard to be accurate but it drives goalies crazy." Russ's shot wasn't a sure thing. The others in the shootout (Banks, Jesse, Dwayne, Fulton and Guy) were known as consistantly good players.
sharetechnically Fulton wasn't a consistent either...I think somewhere in the 1st movie it is known that his slap shot is good for 1 out of 5. Also in hockey on a penalty shot, you can't stop skating or stop the puck to shoot, so Fulton and Russ would have their shots blown dead if they tried to do their respective shots. But going by the movie you are right, they want to go with their experienced players.
sharethey do infringe on the rules anyhow but according to the rules, a player can go from skater to goalie, but can not go back to being a skater so since he played goal for a shift, he'd have been ineligible to play as a shooter.
shareBanks, Jesse & Guy were the Top 3 players, Fulton had the power and Cowboy Dwayne was the best puck handler, so they were banking on his skills gettin past the goalie.
shareFulton learned towards the end of the 1st movie how to be more accurate with his slap shot. Soft hands. Concentration, not strength. The knuckly puck was unreliable at best, although he was 3 for 3 in this movie, including the street game.
"If I'm wrong, I'll pay for it. But if I'm right you're gonna hear about it."
I would have much rather had Russ in there instead of Dwayne. His puck handling isn't much of a guarantee he will score.
