Ray Liotta in Goodfellas AND Corrina, Corrina???

how does one respectable actor such as ray liotta go from something like "goodfellas" to this...? other than that i did like the movie.

Three Words: Money, Money, Money!

perhaps he liked the story??? in my opinion, being able to play a VARIETY of roles marks a truly great actor from a merely good one; yes, Goodfellas was fantastic; Corrina Corrina is quite different, but I enjoyed it also... in some ways more so, for its gentleness and sensitivity
all three leads in this film were excellent; it may never stand as a classic, but why shouldn't someone like Liotta want to broaden his scope and avoid becoming typecast? and don't say for the money - not everyone is as cynical as THAT :p ;)

WHAT WORLD ARE YOU LIVING IN??? OF COURSE HE DID IT FOR THE MONEY. THE WORLD IS THAT CYNICAL....

reply

It's called acting.

A good actor can play different roles. Why are people upset? I wish I could see him in more movies. He has a way of showing his emotions through his eyes. I liked him in No Way Out.

reply

Liotta was in No Way Out? I didn't see that in his filmography. Are you sure you don't mean "No Escape"?

Because he is and ACTOR and that's what they do, ACT in different roles.

Its because he is a great actor and can play any role just like deniro who acted in Goodfellas and rocky and bullwinkle ( even though it sucked )

Precisely.

Generally speaking, versatility is good for an actor's career. The worst thing that can happen to an actor is for him to be typecast. I liked Corrina, Corrina and Ray Liotta's character in the film.

reply

that doesn't make any sense. you think he's a good actor. he's in goodfellas and corrina corrina but you like it anyway?

ray liotta is an actor he sees something in a script and he does it. a friend asks him to do it as a favor and he does it. the real ray liotta is supposedly one of the most gentle dudes on the planet. he could easily be attracted to a script like this. maybe he feels strongly about the racial issues brought up in the film. my point is. your comment makes no sense. i'm referring to the first comment on the board.

OH.... MY.... GOD..... I'd bang your head a few more times if I were you! Rob Lowe?! What are you smoking? lol

Back to the point, Liotta is an actor and a good one at that. Taking this role proves his versatility and he did a great job. His eyes say it all. Arguably the best scene is the last one between Manny and Corrina, where he apologises for basically being an idiot. His eyes are pleading her to forgive him. Even if he hadn't spoken, we, the audience would've known what he was trying to say. A true sign of a very gifted actor.

And by the way, Whoopi Goldberg did this also. Aside from Made in America, we haven't really seen her as a romantic lead. She also did a great job here. Her brilliance is in the eyes too. Particularly the scene where Corrina helps Manny improve his jingle. They continue playing the piano afterwards and the looks they give each other speak volumes.

reply

reply

Let me guess, your either a female or an idiot.

I'll go with the latter, considering you misspelled Goodfellas.
