If I'm not mistaken, he's color blind in this movie. I haven't seen this movie since it came out, what, 10 years ago? I'm guessing it has something to do with that.

yes he can not see the colour red after his client commits suicide in the beginning of the film .

He actually can't see red and green. But if you have red-green color blindness, red and green should actually look muddy brown and not gray as in the movie. My brother is red-green color blind. But then again, This movie sucked with cheesy porno like music so who cares.

I have a friend that is red-green colorblind, and to him red and green looks gray..

It's just red that he can't see. He can see green just fine. It has to do with red. It's the red that he can't see. In the beginning, when his patient jumps out of the window and lands in the street, we see the pool of red blood clutter around her. Then, the red turns to gray, and her green dress stays just as green as it was before.

When he finds the artist dead in his apartment/studio...Bruce looks like he is in a puddle of gray (which is actually blood).

An ironic title...since the color of night is black.

Nonetheless...terrible title and movie. I liked Brad Dourif though...especially after seeing flicks like Two Towers, Dune, and Exorcist 3.

I love Clark.

This is probably meant to be ambiguous. We would naturally think the color of night should be black, so maybe it refers to the sickness of a psychotic killer. The psychiatrist hero says he can't see red, because at the beginning of the film his patient (dressed in green) jumps out an upper story window during his session with her. When he looks out the window he sees her body surrounded by a spreading pool of blood that looks redder than any red he has seen before. Then it turns gray immediately, apparently because he is so traumatized. I believe red-green is the most typical form of color blindness.

there are two kind of photo-sensitive cells in your eyes the Rod and Con cells
Rod cells can only identify brightness and contrast where as the Con cells are for the wavelength (therefore identifying color) in the night the Rod cells completely take over and therefore we dont see any colors in the night..so in the night every one becomes color blind irrespective of how well there eyes work..!! only the camera with long Exposure can see the colors of night..

He's not truly color blind. He's suffering from a psychosomatic form of color blindness where he can't see red. Everything else is fine.
