Book vs. The Movie

Guess they have not given the book enough justice. The book, I suppose, is way far better than the film.

Watching it now. Actually, it is one of the better interpretations of a Grisham novels. I think Susan Sarandon & Tommy Lee Jones put real interest into the film. My view anyway.

The book is better, although like with all Grisham novels it's a little too heavy on repetitive details (Mark's dad was abusive, we get it! Reggie had a problem with the booze, we get it! Roy is an ass, we get it!) He often gives a 300 page story in a 700 page novel. The book Mark was also a little too perfect and borderline unrealistic.

I still liked the book better, though, because in the movie they made Mark and his mom into total white trash ingrates who had no appreciation for all that was being done for them (while it was being done- there was some gratitude later on).

It is worth it. I have enjoyed all the Grisham books I've read. I just feel as though he repeatedly pounds minute details into the heads of the readers. Whether he thinks they need to be reminded of them over and over or whether it's just an unshakeable habit from his lawyer days, I don't know.
