That kid is such a little a-hole. Every time he doesn't get his way he cries "You're fired! I'll hitch-hike home!" And of course his lawyer can't let an 11 year old hitchhike so he gets his way every time. Manipulative pisher.
Heh. Well, if you had seen a guy kill himself, knew where a dead body the Mafia wanted and a federal dude wanted, also... your brother was in the hospital, and more... what would you do? The kid barely cried, and he was 11 years old. Give me a break; he just wanted a way out.
What is it you hate, Saymore(b), the actor or the character he portrayed? If it's the actor, you ARE fullofit! I read the book (not the screenplay, the BOOK) , and I found Brad Renfro's portrayal of Mark Sway not only true to the book, but with an incredible amount of creativity for an 11-year-old boy. It is my understanding that young Renfro had no prior acting experience and that the casting took place in the school he attended. He nailed the part, probably because he was (is) everything the part called for. Since that film, he has developed into a top professional actor, his personal problems notwithstanding. The confrontational scenes between Renfro and Susan Sarandan (a credible actor in her own right [or left] her leftist leanings notwithstanding) are CLASSIC! Now if is the CHARACTER you despise so much, direct your criticism at Mr. Grisham, the novelist on whose work the film was adapted. Bran Renfro (the ACTOR, not "... that little snot ..."), played the role admirably. Grisham created the character Mark Sway, Brad Renfro BECAME Mark Sway. Why not blow your nose and clean out the curruption that's backing up into your brain?
I agree 100% w/ gruagach! I thought Brad Renfro did a great job, he's a good little actor! I thought he was hilarious, how boring would the movie have been with some do-good, little suck-up kid with no character? He was funny and cute and I overall enjoyed this movie, and the book was great too.
The kid definitely had an attitude, but he obviously didn't have the best childhood watching his alcoholic father physically abuse his mother. Then he obviously was dealing with his brother being hospitalized and countless of people harassing him.
Brad Renfro does a wonderful acting performance as Mark Sway. I don't know what you're talking about saying that he's a snot and all that other crap you say about him or his character cause that's you. Think whatever you think but remember it was Brad's actual first movie he acted in so don't make a big deal out of it. I don't think anyone could do a better job as Mark Sway because Brad did a such a fantastic job.
You're all so quick to anger. Sure, I leveled insults, but at a character, not (obviously) at the boy who portrayed him. The actor did such a good job that he managed to get me pissed off at what a brat his character is, now that's pretty good acting. But the fact remains, the CHARACTER in this movie is a little manipulative snot.
He did an excelent performance if you considerate he was just a 11 year old boy with no acting experience. He was beliavable as Mark Sway. I can say he was a real Mark Sway.
Shut up. I think that seeing as he just witnessed a gruesome suicide, his brother is in a coma, he is being chased by the mafia and the police he should be yelling a lot more.
