Why do you have to pay to watch a video this old on the internet?

I love this movie, I thought, wow have not seen it in long time, think I will find it on line and watch it. To my surprise, Netflix doesn't even have this movie and the only way to see it is to pay some other online crap for it-is there not some way to watch a decent movie free....*beep* this *beep* I don't have a card to rent something more on line...This sight sucks too...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch some movies you haven't seen. Life is short.

Chances are your local library has this movies available to check out for free. I just borrowed a copy of it a few weeks ago because my husband had never seen and he loves Grisham movies.

Man, your life must really suck if you have to pay to see old films.

It's called copyright. You can see it for free only if the author or owner of the work puts it in public domain, or if the copyright expires and the owner of the copyright doesn't renew the copyright. When it comes to films usually the studio who made it own the copyright.

I am on the road less traveled...

I know this post is old, but my local library has thousands of dvds and blurays you can borrow for free. Your local library probably has a bunch of movies you can borrow for free as well.

I check out movies from the library, too. Great resource.

Right now I actually have Mandy with Nic Cage checked out. In fact, I think it may be a day late. Need to get on that.

I just borrowed the third conjuring movie! My library has been getting new release films very quickly

reply

Cool! Mine also gets new releases in pretty quickly, but those titles also fly out the door quickly and there can be hellishly long wait lists for them.

If something is brand new I usually just Redbox it. Sounds like you scored, though.

reply

Its hit and miss sometimes, but there always seems to be a movie I wanna watch available. Some movies are harder to borrow than others though, like a brand new superhero movie. What shocks me is not enough people use the library!

reply

I think a lot of people these days have forgotten that libraries exist, but clearly at my library enough people do still use it that DVDs are regularly going out and coming in.

Typically if I'm looking for an older title, they will have it in the system. If my local branch doesn't have it they'll have it transferred from another branch that does.

Even in 2021, libraries are important.

I agree! I especially found my local libraries useful when I didnt have internet and needed to job search and email. Its a quiet place to study when your attending college (and no one shows up to distract you like friends on campus would). I found much use and solace from my libraries over the years.

Libraries may find renewed life when society collapses. You wont be able to find knowledge except in those books!

Where are you people from? I'm in London and I used to go to library for books and sometimes movies and music. But during Covid they closed down and there was talk they would not going to make it, as the situation was not good even before the lock-down. Your posts fill me with optimism.

There must be someone you can contact in your government that can help keep the library around? If its a government run building why would they shut it down?

I think libraries are important enough to keep open. Theres plenty of folks who have use for them.

Go to your local thrift store. It's usually cheap. I buy DVDs and CDs there. It's awesome.
