What on Earth is the point of there being a Blu-Ray of this?

It was made with such cheap, grainy film, I mean you can't really polish a turd (I'm only talking about the visual aspect of this comedy gem)

some people have made, or are going to make a complete switch to Blu-Ray. That means they will have to replicate their VHS, or DVD collections

Those people must have more money than sense. Besides Blu-Ray players still play standard definition DVDs, so it's not a dead format like VHS. It'll probaby be a while before people stop using DVDs.

Watch the intro to "Tea Party" by Kevin Smith, he even disagreed with this being on blu-ray, but he did throw in another extra in the special features which is well worth the price considering the blu-ray is only $20 at most retailers, and you get everything the CLERKS X dvd had, plus another feature, which I mentioned. Yeah, it looks grainy, but they do have the first cut which is pretty much the original version, nothing done to it other than edits from 1994. There have been worse looking blu-ray transfers. And you should thank the company who made it into a blu-ray because this movie is amazing. It deserves the blu treatment.

Just wondering, does anyone in the UK have the Clerks blu-ray? I noticed that and the Chasing Amy blu-ray are finally available here now, but I'm wondering if the "Oh! What a lovely tea party" docco is including on the Clerks Region 2 (or B in this case?) blu-ray? I saw it at a store the other day but noticed that it wasn't listed on the back of the case, with the other extras.

Yes I just got this on blu ray purely for tea party as I already have the clerks x dvd. I'm in the UK by the way. I kinda agree this is a strange film to own on blu ray but as I said, I wanted the oh what a lovely tea party doc. I took a chance though, as for some reason it is not listed on the extras on the box.

I for one will like having the nearest thing to transparent copy of a 16mm black and white movie can get. There may not be much to be gained with a bluray but at least the limitations of regular dvd won't be present.

Hopefully there won't be any use of DNR on the bluray release. Film grain is part of the experience.

Because it still looks miles better than the DVD

And yes, you are currently reading my sig.

In regard to grain, that's what film's image is made of. If you can see it now on films due to HD, it means your seeing the film. Grain removal is an abomination to true film fans.

You only need one disc for the extras, the picture is incredibly close to an actual 16mm print and PIP is possible without compression issues.

@ubernoodle

thank you.

the blu ray looks fantastic, 100x better than dvd

I bought the bluray, since I never got around to buying it on DVD, it was adequate enough. I wasent expecting Avatar picture and there was a lot of descent extra features that made it worth it.
