I can never bring myself to watch this.

Harvey Weinstein walked out around the same time saying it was slow and boring. He was advised to go back in and wait for 37. He did, he immediately bought the rights. It's essiantelly a buddy movie where the buddy doesn't turn up for a while. Give it a chance but don't expect to be overawed the way the original fans where. Most people discovered it late night on some movie channel without the hype, you're going into it being told its brilliant.

I felt the same way. I got about 20 minutes into it and got bored. Later I decided to give it another shot and made myself watch it. It picks up and gets better after about 30-40 minutes. I ended up liking it. I don't think it's an excellent cinematic masterpiece or anything, but it ends up being pretty fun after the boring start.

I hated it the first time I saw it. Like torture! I watched it again and loved it. The same for Napoleon Dynamite. Go figure.

There's a few funny moments, but it doesn't live up to the hype. I probably would have liked it when I was 15.
