SOMETHING DIDN'T MAKE SENSE.......

If duke had the missing corner the whole time then why didn't he use it after he got the map from mitch.....?

reply

Nowhere is it stated that he was aware of the corner the whole time. He could have thought about it afterward. I know that after all they went through, at one point it would've/could've occurred to me that I might have something under my hat too just like my brother. That's just a thought.

He did use the corner, he was going to cheat the other three, but then had change of heart!!!

They did lose the map, and once Glen (lovitz) got them there they realized it wasnt a real treasure, but then they had the treasure maps from "Clay Stones Real Western Treasure Hunt" that was an exact copy of the real map. Thats the map Curly shows to Mitch at the Hotel in Vegas when he puts the missing corner in to place.

Come and get me, come and get me, COME AND GET ME!!!

reply

I was under the impression that Curly had just received the missing corner in the mail or something!

reply

Nah. He said his mother gave it to him so that he and his brother would do something (find the gold) together. He had it all along. Also, no where in the movie does it seem that Duke is forgetful of anything, so I don't think it was a late, "Oh yeah ...." It was part of his ploy of stealing the gold for himself.

reply

Because he wanted to con the others into thinking they'd looked and hadn't found it. Then they'd forget about it, and he could have all the gold to himself without having to worry about what they might do.

Everyone seems to forget that when Duke finds the treasure that's fake, the look on his face sorta hints that he didnt know about the map piece yet.
