'Jogging' euphemism for sex?

I've watched Chungking Express countless times (love the film) - but there is one thing I've never fully understood: Cop 223 references to jogging (doing it when he's heartbroken, to sweat out his tears).

When I first watched it, I assumed that it he was using euphemism for sex - especially since he suggestively asks the Woman in the Blonde Wig to go jogging with him when trying to seduce her at the bar. Also, when he is earlier returning a pager call to 'Ming' - from the one sided phone conversation, a heartbroken Ming wants go jogging with 223 in front of an audience. 223 gets angry and says that jogging is a 'personal' thing and cannot be performed in front of an audience. I originally thought Ming wanted to engage in a threesome or exhibitionist sex with 223.

However, of course, later in the film, we do see 223 literally jogging around the field on his birthday.

My question is that if anyone else thought the references to jogging were about sex? Was 223 literally just innocently talking about jogging or was he, in fact, talking about sex and later goes running because he couldn't hook up with the Blonde Wig Woman in the hotel?

Or - was this a red herring that WKW purposedly wrote in to mislead the audience?

I never considered it to be a euphemism for anything. He jogs to relieve stress, he just has a poetic way of wording it.

"Jogging" is in fact the Japanese word for "Dogging"

It might have represented optimistic feelings about the Hong Kong handover to China. Jogging, to overcome expiry, catch up and rub shoulders with new friends, means no time for tears. Running is a motif used several times in the film, with variations of meaning - such as the smuggler running away, until she ditches her wig.

"The royal penis is clean."

"Jogging" is not an euphemism for anything. In this film, jogging is jogging,,,

It is exactly what he says it is, to expel the water from his body so he doesn't cry. I'm not sure if it actually works that way, but basically i took it as something he did when he's about to cry or filed with despair.

Yeah I think that's all there is to it as well.

I have no idea if it works that way either. He'd have to be REALLY dehydrated for it to have the effect he's talking about though, I imagine.

Made me think of an episode of Scrubs where a characters dog died, and he can't stop crying. So he intentionally dehydrates himself... To the point he hallucinates.
"I think I need an I.V."

I thought that too. And in the second have the same goes for "flights".
