Favorite Quote From China Moon

When he says " I was loving you and you were just using me ? " Very sexy line and he does that scene just right. He's fallen for her , but he can't let the other cops know it.

reply

actually, the line is, "i was loving you, and you were 'fkg' me! i was loving you, and you were 'fkg' me!" (l.o.l.)

and, it's one of the best lines in the film. it's delivered at the perfect moment, and because harris' performance has been pretty understated and low-key to that point, the force with which the line is delivered is all the more effective in showing how his character has indeed fallen for her.

you totally believe that this otherwise upright detective would do what he winds up doing to be with her.
that's a testament to the script, and to madeleine stowe, for sure.
film noir at its best.

my fav. line is.. when she saw the moon and say

" look at that moon.

Ed haris replied: my grand Mma use 2 call it china moon.. like a big old plate china.. she say ppl get effect by that.. they do strange things

reply

That line stood out as quirky as he sounded like he was having a baby tantrum and if not odd the first time, he repeated it. It was not my favorite. Also he was really up on her in the boat and he says that the China Moon makes you do strange things and they are looking at each other like it just means sexually. I did not like that line much either, although I did like the movie. My favorite might have been during the domestic when Ed Harris gets tough, the husband waits for him to get halfway back to the car then shouts, "You got a foul mouth, lil man." So what was my favorite quote? In the words of Fred's Doctor friend on Sanford and Son "I dunno".

reply

The line was very critical because the Harris character did a major turnaround in the middle of the film. He was a straight arrow cop and is suddenly covering up murder. Why? Must have been the China Moon.

My favorite part was when they were swimming in the lake nude, and Rachel took control:

"Put your arms around me... Kiss me."

Who could resist?

It is a great line, because he was really in love with her...I bet a lot of women would love to hear a line like that (meaning the person saying it is truly in love with you)...that line made this movie one of my all time favorite *romantic* movies. Watch it again to see a man really in love. Makes my heart melt! And Ed Harris is hot. I really love his neck...it looks so clean and sexy. Oh another great line about his being so comfortable in his own skin...now *that* is sexy.

Lamar: Nice house, Mr. Munro. How much you pay for a place like this?

Munro: None of your goddamn business.

and

Kyle: I gotta call the police. It's justifiable homicide.

Rachel: It's an unregistered gun, I didn't check out of the hotel they'll say I came back here to kill him.

Kyle: Did you?

Rachel: No! God, help me Kyle, please. If you ever loved me trust me now. Put down the phone please... You said you'd protect me do it now, Don't call them please. Put down the phone.

*Kyle returns the phone to the cradle*

Do you want me, Gideon?
More than my next breath, Eva. You're my addiction... my obsession...
