This film makes me realize how bad it is for society to make it so that one can't even admit they are attracted to kids without being demonized.
First off, the act of pedophilia is wrong. I have no idea why some people are attracted to kids when it's so unnatural from a biology standpoint. But it's important to talk about it openly so that we can try and learn what the hell is wrong with these people.
I think it's most likely 100% natural from a biological standpoint. Just like homosexuality (a fully acceptable form of sexuality between two consenting adults), this is just their sexuality. The problem with it is that it isn't between consenting adults. It sucks but we need a way to alter their desires in order to protect children.
shareI don't believe it's biological and/or natural. In my opinion, at least a part of it is attributed to nurture because it doesn't make sense that you just block somebody out once they grow up. Actually, all we ever hear is how they are attracted to kids of certain ages but never about what happens if they like a kid for such a long time that s/he becomes too old for their taste. Since this is a change that most people can adapt to, I figure that there was a problem in a paedophile's childhood that caused this "focus of attraction".
But I do agree that we should talk about pedophilia more. I think not all pedos are creepy perverts that just want to *beep* anything that moves. I guess a lot of them have some sort of morality, are aware that acting on their feelings would be wrong and are willing to seek help. As the OP says, they shouldn't be demonized because they actively try to do something about themselves.
