Word. It's a well-acted and thoroughly enjoyable movie that was, dare I say, ahead of its time.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

Honestly, I don't really see how kids these days would have even heard of this movie. I used to watch this movie all the time after school on Comedy Central and HBO as a kid but I never see this aired on cable anymore. The ratings breakdown kind of backs this up with only 3(!) users under the age of 18 even rating this. I would guess that an overwhelming majority of the 1937 in the 18-29 group are closer to being 30, too.

I think this movie's low rating is a result of the "old days" of IMDB when some curmudgeons and people that love the smell of their own farts tried to make this site into some sort of esteemed rating system for movies when all it's really ever been was just a single outlet for user score aggregation. Thankfully, I think most of those blowhards moved on from the site over the past decade, but the damage has been done and so I doubt this movie will ever get back above a 6 because more and more new movie watchers will never see this movie.

Oh well, this movie is entertaining as hell and I agree on its cult classic status.

Uh, actually, it's rated about 5 points too high.
