Chris hates it?

Chris just called in to talk about his new book on my local radio show (Z-92) and at the end they asked him what's the worst project he's ever been a part of, and he said Cabin Boy! What's up with that?

reply

It wasn't successful so he must have hated it. I love that movie though.

You can have a bad time working on something but still think it turned out okay. How can he not like Cabin Boy?

reply

He's probably just saying that because he put a lot of work into it and it was critically panned and lost on most movie-watchers' radars for eternity.
Fortunately, there's folks out there like us who've seen it and think it's one of the funniest movies ever.
I think it's pretty much his best work ever.

His best work ever? What about "Get a Life"?

reply

Get A Life is what made Elliot. He will always be an aging paperboy who lives with his parents.

Adam was a writer on "Get a Life", and our episode with the construction gang made Adam and Chris decide to do the movie. The screen test was when I awakened to find Chris as my bed mate. The scene was almost word for word like the original on the series. The final version in the film changed very little. I heard the film was written for Chris and I to recreate the standoff. I enjoyed making it, except for the hurricane which damned near drowned us, and the snowman. Everybody but us wore face masks to avoid the horrible white crap we were breathing while shooting it. I recently learned that our film was the feature in Austin's Offcenter Film Festival. That was the first I heard about it becoming a cult ckassic. I wish I could have joined Adam and Chris as guests. Two of my crew have passed on since we shot it. They were both splendid fellows. Its a happy memory for me since it was shot shortly before I retired in 2000.

b4dlens AKA Captain Greybar in "Cabin Boy" was Ritch Brinkley ----> http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0109620/reference. He posted his comment three and a half months before his death. RIP Ritch.

He probably just says that as a joke because he knows it did not do very well at the box office. He must not hate it, it's hilarious and one of his funniest projects. Just under-appreciated.
