I concur. A.F. rocks! I just saw this movie again, it was simply stunning how he could display so much emotion with such subtlety... and the ending - damn, I'm not proud to admit it, but it almost made me cry. Finney and Scacchi played superbly together.

Couldn't agree more. This movie once more proves why English cinema is so fantastic. It doesn't need to explain why people feel the way they do, it just shows. The acting skills were incredible. One of my all time favorites.

You'd all be far better off seeing a truly great film, Anthony Asquith's 1951 masterpiece with Michael Redgrave.

JekyllBoote-1 is perfectly right. The original TBV movie is much better than its remake.
