In the past 15 years this has to be the least talked about performance to win the Best actress oscar.I think it was because everyone wanted Jessica to win and knew how great she is, but didn't talk about it for such consolatory adulation is better reserved for the much aged greats. She was still young for to be considered a legend.

A great actor who stars in a given tv series or soap who will never be a feature film actor is underrated.

I don't see what was so dismal about it, except that it's trendy that people said it. Is it only dismal 'after the fact', since she went on to more artistic films?
If King King was a critical/commercial hit, would her performance still had been considered dismal? If she was wasn't right for the role, they would not had cast her among all the other women available. She did what the role called for.
