i caught like the last half hour of this on AMC the other day. i tuned in when jeff bridges pulls up on his motorcycle and he sees lloyd bridges strapped to a bomb. i didnt get what was going on, could some1 explain???

sharewithout giving to much away basically Lloyd Bridges plays the uncle of Jeff Bridges character in this film and he has a bomb strapped to him cause Tommy Lee Jones's character has a vendetta against Jeff Bridges Character I won't tell you why he has the Vendetta cause that would give the whole movie away but that basically sums up that scene, hope this helps.

It's a very powerful scene once you watch the whole thing.
shareIt is one of the best characters I have ever seen Lloyd Bridges play and it is amazing how much energy he had here, not to sound morbid, and that he would only be with us four more years. I hope I can keep going as well if I get that far. Rest In Peace, Mr. Bridges. Well done.

Lloyd bridges is the uncle of jeff bridges and knows about his past and connection to Tommy lee jones. He is also former BPD and is trying to help Jeff bridges out by using his irish connections to track down tommy lee jones. He eventually finds the pub where tommy lee jones frequents and goes in there to find him. He makes contact and runs to Phone jeff bridges that he found him, only to be caught.
Tommy lee jones leaves clues that lead jeff bridges to a secluded location. lloyd pleads with Jeff to let him die. (I don;t doubt your skills, but im old, and only you can stop him etc) Jeff goes to get his tools and not wanting his nephew to possibly die, lloyd bridges sacrifices himself and moves in a position that triggers the bomb.
