Set. Hallstrom was such an a$$hole lol

Seriously, he was so terrible it made me laugh.

First he strips and waves his ass at some girl he's never met before like a drunken frat boy. Thank goodness she was blind..I would hope no woman would ever go for as a$$ like that. He was so cocky!

Then she reports a crime and he belittles her and taunts her and acts like she's nuts. Turns out she was right...and he was just being an a$$.

Then all through the movie he yells at her. He grabs her and shakes her roughly..even after learning that her mom abused her. Oh yeah, he also laughed like he was in disbelief when she told him her mom blinded her!

Several times she's scared and crying and instead if comforting her he yells and argues with her and grabs her and slams her against walls.

He also roughs her up in front of a mirror the way her mom did.

He was just so awful that it's comical!

I liked the movie though

Your post made me laugh ... I mean, in a nice way, not a bad way.

I really hadn't thought about how awful Halstrom was. I kept thinking how kind of scratchy-voiced and what seemed to be a bit hyper Emma was. You helped put her behavior into perspective. I'm glad you could relate to her and know when she was scared. I might find the movie more believable now. I believe I liked it when I first saw it, but now when I watched it I felt the building of the tension and suspense were rather forced in places and the denouement somewhat unsatisfying. But all in all I thought it was a great effort.

I have learned from your post though that, you're right, Halstrom was doing a lot of stuff that was pretty jerky. I think I was so in awe of Aiden Quinn's physical beauty at the time, that I forgave him anything. And he acted well, too. But I'm sure it's not a good idea to give a guy a pass just because he's so cute. Good lesson.

I just saw this movie today but hadn't seen it back then. Halstrom annoyed me too but his looks also made me give him a bit of a pass.
