Is this an odd feeling to have?

I don't know my exact age when I saw it, but if it came out in August 1994 I was 5. So even if I was 7 the first time I watched, I'll say I grew up watching this movie. Anyway, perhaps because of that or something about his soothing voice or something, I have this really high level of respect for Mayor Harris. Sounds a little lame I figure, and maybe I'm tying feelings into it that I had the last time I watched it more recently, but he seems like a damn good role model or something. More than any real person can probably be! I'm not talking about Lawford here, in fact I looked him up and he's written some books about I dunno if it was drug use or alcoholism but it was about his recovery. So none of us are perfect.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else ever had sort of a special feeling about the guy. Sorta interesting that the observation comes from a movie about a superhero and that my reaction isn't about him but some damn politician! Not to mention it's a comedy therefore a response like that could come across a bit ridiculous!

I admired that he wanted to do good for the community and the grandmother really seemed to look up to him. It was a shame when Minelli killed him.

It was fun watching Exit Wounds and getting to see him as President!

I wonder if there are really any candidates like this who are willing to go into the rundown neighborhoods and expose themselves to how people live and literally roll up their sleeves and literally get their hands dirty. And not as a photo-op. Sorta unrelated, but I admired after 9/11 when Steve Buscemi went in and helped because he used to be a firefighter. He I guess said he wasn't there for pictures or autographs. Really hoping he's not had any health issues because of all the asbestos and dust or whatever particles have slowly seemed to screw up the health of guys who went through the debris after the collapse.

I was eight when it came out but I was probably 9 or 10 when I saw it. I recall my mother taping it on HBO and letting me watch it.

Say it loud! I'm a plebian and proud! 
