This is the ONLY movie I’ve ever walked out of.

I love Damon Wayans. In fact the Wayans brother are pretty cool.

However, I thought this movie was going to be more comical. The start of it was good, however, it just didn’t go anywhere after the first fifteen minutes.

You waited 12 years to say this?

what is this guy talking about? I first saw this movie when I was 11 back when it came out in '94. I laughed my azz off then and every time I've seen it since then. The jokes never get "stale" like in most comedies. A good storyline and classic catch phrases too.

Hey dude, try watching it now and see if you still think it's funny.
I guarantee that either your mind would change, or that your sense of humor hasn't since you were 11.

Yeah, I agree, this film sucked. Even Damon Wayans agrees; I heard him admit on NPR in 1999 or 2000 how disappointed he was over the finished product. He said it was supposed to be a feature-film treatment of his Handi-Man character on "In Living Color" and "it somehow got transformed into something else" (approximate quote I remember).

What I really can't believe (or maybe I SHOULD by now) is that there are quite a number of people on here who actually like or love the film. Apparently none of them realize that this film was released in only about 600 theaters nationwide and was pulled from all of them in a week, it bombed that bad. Like It's Pat bad. Makes me wonder how many films each of these people have seen, and which ones. I'd venture to guess that Oscar-nominated ones - or even good comedies - are in very short supply for this special group.

Oh, and just for the record, I wasn't going to see this film but my stupid older brother dragged me to see it because he had THOUGHT he had seen in the movie section of the local newspaper that it received three - yes, that's right - three stars. Apparently he was viewing the rating for the film listed above it. In any case, we should have gone to see that other film...whatever it was.

As a film buff, I did not walk out of Blankman, because:

1) I just don't do that as a general rule.

2) No matter how bad a film is (i.e.: The World According to Garp, Pennies From Heaven, Heart Condition, Fright Night 2, Short Cuts, Crash (1996), Mission to Mars - another one I wasted money to see in the theater) I always hold out at least some optimism that whatever dreck I'm watching will get better...sometime, someway, somehow. It hasn't happened...yet.

3) I am a proud end-credits watcher; horrible films included.

Anyway, I committed over an hour and a half of my life 14 years ago to watching this piece of unfunny crap, and now I've committed 25 minutes more to explain my reaction to it, some (not so) fun facts around it and why it sucked so bad. Will I never learn?

If thats the case, then damon wayans must have been smoking crack when he did that interview,i mean its nothing great, but it doesnt pretend to be either, blankman knows the idiocy of itself as a film, which is why damon wayans character is constantly punked throughout the film.i thought the film was great,im in australia, and i first saw this film on video in 1995 when i was 14,i LOVED it then, and i was at the video store the other night and saw it on the shelf,i had to get again,if not at least to see it on dvd, since most of my viewings were on VHS,well iv watched it again as a 27 year old and i absolutely love this film,at least in my eyes,it accomplishes what it intends,to make people laugh, and i laughed and laughed, this film is a stupid moronic escapist comedy, and its gr8!!2 thumbs up!

ps...do not make a second blankman, its good as it is.not they will i dont think.:-)

I'm 17 (18 next month) now, and I first saw this on my 13th bday, 5 years ago on Starz.

This DEFINITELY holds a special place in my heart. I used to watch this OVER AND OVER AND OVER, (and so on, lol).

I even found the soundtrack at a local Dollar store, (dont ask why I was there) shortly after, and ever since I been jammin it on iTunes/iPod like crazy.

I have never walked out of a movie. Sometimes they get better after fifteen minutes. And I want to be able to tell people with all certainty that a movie stunk. I think other people would rather tell their friends that they walked out. It sounds very grandiose to me. Seeing a movie in a theater isn't exactly cheap either. I can't remember the 1994 price for a movie ticket. I think it was about $8. I guess $8 is peanuts if you have delusions of grandeur.

"The World According to Garp" was a great movie (and book) compared to junk like "Blankman" which I watched all the way through.

@countdownto

You didn't even bother seeing after the first 15 minutes? Well, then your opinion dosen't count because you didn't actually SEE the movie. Saw it on TV on the Bounce Channel recently, and found it quite likable and the Blankman character adorable. I think the way it was marketed at the time definitely turned me off from seeing it---the trailer I saw back then made it look (to me) like some dumb, cheap ugly "ghetto" flick, which probably killed its chances at the box office. Seems like it was a decent flick that just got shafted by lousy promotion at the time--worth a look just for Blankman's funny low-budget and practical approach to crimefighting. I also have the soundtrack to it, which piqued my interest in the flick.

the movie didn't "suck" its all relative anyway, clearly the movie has its fans and its flat out hysterical. anyone who says otherwise is just a *beep* stick in the butt pansy ass with no sense of humour.

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!
