They send him to a birthday party to a kid who he doesn't like and vice versa, and give him six dollars to spend at a water park.

Not stupid as much as negligent and in need of a social services visit.

They also let him work for some rich guy who they've never even met. wtf?

And they get pissed off that preston's bike got destroyed, instead of being worried that their own son was nearly hit by a car.
