Why no outrage when the woman kissed a boy on the lips?

The fbi agent a woman kissed Travis a kid on the freakin lips. No doubt outrage if a man kissed a kid a girl on the lips in a movie, tv show, comic book, no doubt real life, etc so why the hell in this awful movie that is utterly insulting to logic on a very high level why no outrage?

Also why the hell does she agree to date him when he still isn't a adult so would that be a crime?
Now even if not illegal as long as no sex happens it's still extremely dumb and immoral.
She's not pissed off at all for him lying to her, kisses him on the lips, and freakin agrees to date him if I recall right 6 years later.
Damn that is utterly spitting in the face of logic.

She can find a guy her age or close to her age as in seperation of 4 years at most for age.

Wow I'm very surprised no 1 has answered.

This movie is from 1994, a simpler time and a Disney movie. We might think of it as weird that a lady would date like a 12-year old boy, and it is but they keep this kid friendly.

I think the movie was supposed to show Preston's developing interest in girls, feeling attracted to an older woman. Still, they indicate they can't be together, but they can all years later. If it's 6-years that would make him 18 where it would be ok.

While I'd still say it's a little weird, I feel like the movie was able to get away with this then, but I doubt a Disney movie would do that now.

No one is answering because no one cares. It's a movie from 1994. I guess now we are going back in time to find things to be offended about. Get a grip.

As a kid when I saw this I wasn't outraged....I was inspired. I said if he ,a kid, could lock lips with a hot grown woman like that, then why couldn't I? And now...the dream is ruined.

It was no big deal back then but I just saw this on Disney+ and I can't believe they haven't edited out that scene.

Quick! Write a letter!

reply

Nah i dont care but i found it strange seeing as Disney wants to keep Disney+ super family oriented (They even digitally erased Daryl Hannah's naked butt in Splash)

Because the terms of being being a man then is different to now.

Having a quick look online, I see that he wears a suit and is a 'little man' so to speak. It's a movie, and we accept that in this 'movie world' he is becoming that young man.

Yeah it's weird but it really is different how we view masculinity and coming of age.

reply

Why would anyone be outraged? It's not like she stuck her tongue down his throat or had full on sex with him. A little kiss like that shouldn't be an issue at all. Thankfully the 90s weren't full of people who complain about everything like the modern world.

reply

It's a bigger deal now. The only reason it wasn't a big deal then is because the double standard was stronger.

To be fair, an 11 year old Kirsten Dunst kissed a 30 year old Brad Pitt in Interview with the Vampire that very same year, 1994. I’m not defending either choice to have a child kissing an adult on the mouth for a movie, but just pointing it out.
