I guess the old guy lived in the little house by the lighthouse? If so, I doubt the beams of rotating beacon light would have illuminated the windows outside.

And yes, I cried! Not for the movie being so bad but for the dog.

Yep, the dog was the only character with half a brain. The only one that was sympathetic.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

I am an animal lover, and as much as I tell myself it is JUST a movie and no animals were hurt in the filming, I am still very upset about Scout! I cried and cried and hugged my yellow lad Buddy while they were burying that beautiful dog!

god i am so glad i am not the only one! this movie was a favorite of mine when i was younger and i loved it , ive not seen it since i was about 10, so i don't know if i will still like it but i will always have a soft spot in my heard for it.

My interest in this film dropped considerably when the dog done died, but I pretty much saw that coming because that's what happens in these films. Sad but true, fictionwise.
