What a great film!

I need to watch the third!

don't bother. it's the movie that almost killed stillman's career.

While I would rank Last Days of Disco behind both Barcelona and Metropolitan it is still pretty good and well worth watching.

Also, I would highly recommend Noah Baumbach's Kicking and Screaming, which not only stylistically resembles Stillman's trilogy but also features a great performance by Chris Eigeman.

Last DAys is good. Though I have to say that those expecting to see a Stillman version of Sat. night fever will be disappointed.

I love all 3, and I also totally enjoy 'Kicking and Screaming'.

Chris Eigeman is SO good!

He, Eric Stoltz, and Carlos Jacott are also very good in Baumbach's 'Mr. Jealousy'.

Yes! Jacott kills it in both Mr Jealousy (with his phony British accent, apropos of nothing) and in Kicking and Screaming.

I know they are not everyone's taste but I love these type of hyper-talking films, with smart, literate, but slightly off-kilter characters.

Last Days of Disco is my favorite by far, though Metropolitan is very fine indeed. Barcelona is enjoyable if flawed. Damsels in Distress is highly flawed with a few great scenes. Love and Friendship is drab; I am not sure why he bothered with this slight amusement.
