Is this really a chick version of The Magnificent Seven?

I have seen the movie many times and it was not considered a chick version of the "Magnificent Seven." In fact, Cody Zamora ( Madeleine Stowe) said "We are not heroes." The reason why they took on Kid Jarrett was to get their money back, then to rescue Drew Barrymore from him.
