the Father was a douchebag unfortunaly there are many Bad parents in this world.

It made me sad too but I think it was partly because the father knew he just wasn't ready to be a father. I mean he did see Roger and speak to him and he didn't lie about it I mean he did try to tell Roger he would never take him and I personally feel he made a responsible, if heartbreaking decision, to sign away his righs

Then, the movie would have finished.
It doesn't break my heart, but I do feel bad for Roger although his father is doing what's best for him.
