Mistake with 'ROTH / VAN HALEN SPLIT'

When Chaz asks the "recrod egg zec" which side he would take in the Roth / Van halen split, the cop answers "van halen" which would be the most financially stable choice because "van hagar" hit number 1 on the charts and "van halen" never did.

"Jump" off of Van Halen's "1984" is the only element of Van HALEN that ever hit #1...that was with Roth.

reply

I can't beleive anyone would've taken Roth's side in that split,I mean come on, he's great in Van Halen but his solo stuff is a sick joke, unlike his replacement Sammy Hagar who's solo stuff is great as his Van Halen stuff. Better band with Sammy in my opinion, but I also like Roth's stuff with the band

reply

Roth's first two solo albums were outstanding. Then his career went down the toilet.

The David Lee Roth Band played rings around every Van Halen member.

Also the ego the guy has. He had a female bodybuilder and a midget as bodyguards if I believe correct. If anyone saw interviews with him, you can tell he was full of himself. Some rockers are and they play it cool. Not him. I mean I heard he was an EMT in New York. I ever see him above me, I will wake up and knock him out. Guess that knock me out of whatever put me there though.

And some of Sammy's stuff with vh was soft. But the guy had success before, during, and after them. You can't say that about roth.

And above all, vh did screw over Sammy and *beep* themselves a lot with everything else. In the end, Drug abuse of whatever, I would take neither vh or dlr's side.

reply

"Crazy from the Heat", "Eat 'em and Smile" and "Skycraper" are *beep* great albums.

I believe DLR got it perfect when he was on the howard Stern show one morning.
"When you think of David Lee Rtoh, you of course, think of me, David Lee Roth. And when you think of Van Halen, You think of Me, David Lee Roth."

With Hagar on vocals, the band just never had the power and appeal it did with DLR. And then after an album or two, and a single or two at that, the DLR band just sort of started spinning the drain. Meanwhile, Van Halen kept kicking long enough to bring him back, twice...

reply

Hindsight is 20/20, guys.

"Who's side DID you take..." was the question - VH were going pop, and DLR had the "rock masses" appeal, so in that the band were rockers, they wanted someone on their side.

Whatever. It's a fun gag in the movie. If you want to debate the merits of VH with or without DLR, go to like Blabbermouth or something. :)

Oh please! Van halen sucked with Hagar. They went the way every 70's band went in the 80's which is downhill. Yeah, they became a commercial success but only because they played to the lowest common denominator- like Aerosmith did.
Hagar was great with Montrose and was great solo. But he and van Halen were bad for each other musically.

Botany Bay? Bought on Ebay?!! Oh NO!!!

This guy's a cop!

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.
