Details! I love Details!

Hearing about the soup incident, one guard ask what kind of soup they are talking about. The chief tells them, tomato, and asks why the guard needs to know. The guard answers "Details! I love Details" (or something like that; I saw the German version) and puts up his sunglasses.

The scene seems like some kind of insider joke; it is very funny, but doesn`t really fit to the rest of the movie. Can anybody tell me who played the guard and what this scene was about?

The guard in question was called "Ken," played by Mark Cabus. If you'll recall the incident started with a guard (Yates) encountering an inmate (Chaka) cooking tomato soup on a homemade burner. As these cooking devices were apparently not allowed and thus deemed as contraband, the guard intervenes and gets a face full of hot soup for his troubles.

"Hot soup *beep* hot soup!"

Thanks a lot for answering and pointing out who the actor was.

I already understood which incident the characters were refering to; but I was curious about why they shot Kens last sentence the way they did it. For a guard during a prison riot, it is kind of a funny answer. In the german version, the guard sounded almost sexually aroused by details. In combination with the sunglasses, it was like two seconds from a Tarantino movie; nothing like the rest of the film. I thought maybe it was some kind of quote or inside joke. But then again, I might be over-interpreting...

I thought Chaka had just returned to his cell after spending some time in the sick bay and missed the lunch period. The guard had brought him bowl of soup, and responded by saying he (Chaka) is lucky he's getting any food at all when Chaka Chaka complains the soup has gone cold.

I especially love the part where Chaka, after having thrown the master release lever for all the cell doors, runs past a ringing telephone, doubles back and picks it up yelling into it "Hot soup, muthafocker! Hot soup!"

Never mess with a man's soup!
