One hting I don't get

Why the need to fake paralysis? When he got up to shoot his bro, I thought it was clever cause he'd blame it on the wife and the forensics would show that the angle the brother was shot from had to be standing up, and thus couldnt be Dempsey.

Why did he bother getting up to shoot if he was then gonna admit he shot the brother himself?????

Superb film...

He didn't fake paralysis. He was paralysed and then he got better. But of course he wasn't going to tell anyone otherwise he'd be on two murder charges. I didn't think he blamed the wife though. As I remember it, he claimed they had both tried to kill him and he was able to shoot them both.

Sorry this still doesn't make sense- he could have shot them sittign down if that was the plan. Somehting doesn't add up here!

Do you still care after all this time? lol

Anyway, my take on it is that it was the character's error. His plan was to claim self-defense on shooting his wife and brother, but stood up as a final screw-you to the brother that betrayed him, to show that he manipulated him from the beginning. In that flash of arrogance, he forgot that the bullet's angle would not be in line with his paralysis and then had to make up the whole bit about the paper weight.

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.

Of course I still care! In a flash of arrogance....ok i can buy that!!! I sitll think its the only plot point that oculd have been directed/explained a tad better. Terrific movie nonetheless.
