Before the accident?

Was this movie made before Christopher's horse accident? If it was, it's a creepy coincidence!

reply

yep.

reply

it was shot just months before Reeves got crippled under his horse. It was a pretty scary coincidence. After the accident there was a lot of talking about this weird connection between fiction and real life.

reply

The movie was actually released 6 days before the actual accident happened. My thoughts and prayers are with Christopher's family during their grieving process. He is a vision of courage for all people and was a big NY Rangers fan as am I. In my heart he'll always be Superman and in his own unique way a real life superhero.

reply

i don't mean to sound "mean" but... yeah it was made before the accident, obviously, seeing as he was standing in a few of the shots (frontal shots, obviously Chris and no one else). :)

and yeah it is creepy lol i almost DON'T like thinking about it

:( gets me almost queasy :bleck:

"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard" (req. line 4 the recent 48hr film challenge regionally)

reply

I never knew this! it definitely is crazy, i just found out. in this show called neighbours (in australia) a guy was going horseriding and fell off his horse and broke his neck and died.. very sad episode

reply

I know emoticons and acronyms are all the rage these days, but why in the name of everything that is good would you "laugh out loud" about this coincidence?

reply

Your reply linked just under my comment. No where close to my comment was anyone LOL-ing. So I don't know how you are referring to. :/

"Archer: Then unperforate my eardrum. Lana: Un... head up your ass."

reply

You wrote

and yeah it is creepy "lol" i almost DON'T like thinking about it

which I took for the acronym for "laughing out loud".
If I misunderstood the meaning of that "lol" I apologize, no offence meant.

reply

Never said it was a comfortable "lol". People can laugh even when something is uncomfortable no matter how "appropriate" it seems to others. I work in Hospice and we laugh there all the time. :/
I think you looked into it too much, is all.

"Archer: Then unperforate my eardrum. Lana: Un... head up your ass."

reply

WHO EVER GIVES AN UNCOMFORTABLE LOL???? laughing in real life is a lot different than writing LOL on the internet.

really?

Did see the movie some years ago and what I remember this movie was great (would love to see it again). Also, thought when I later heard about he was paralyzed that this movie was taken after the accident, which I saw quite confusing cuz in the movie he does stand up.

The scenes when Cain (Reeves) talks about his son and how he's going to deal with the paralysis were especially moving. I think at some point, he said something about the son being an orphan. That's what happened to Reeves' son in real life.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

reply

yeah as we all know reeves wife died not long after.

The character in this film was a parapeligic; able to move his arms but not his legs. In real life reeve ended a quadrapalegic

reply

wife died 2 years later of lung cancer although there are claims that she never smoked. [I say claims because although you can say you are not a smoker, but it doesn't mean you have never smoked. and of all people to tell she told the 'oh so truthful' national enquirer! [what upstanding citizen does that?]

reply

No, genius, it was made AFTER his accident.

I don't post much on these message boards, but I do read them frequently, and I just thought you (jarth-2) should know that your comment sounded kinda rude. Of course, you may not care if it did or not. Or maybe you meant it in a funny, teasing way. Plus, I'm assuming that you're being sarcastic in your comment, since the movie aired on HBO on May 21, 1995 and the accident which made him a quadriplegic happened 6 days later on May 27, 1995.

I just think that there's so many unhappy things in our world, and sometimes people forget the old adage 'if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all'. But I'd like to believe that you're a good person who wasn't intending to insult the original poster. Or maybe you were just really grumpy and having a bad day that day. Occasionally during my life, though, I've made the mistake of saying something without thinking about how it may sound. I've always regretted those occurrences. Just a bit of advice - and don't take it the wrong way - be careful about what you say. Intonation is difficult to interpret on these message boards.
