Series Finale **Spoiler**

Well, I haven't seen them all, but with the recent airing of the last few episodes on WAM!, I thought I'd ruin the surprise for everyone and spoil the last couple of episodes.

In the second to last episode, Chett, whom is now privvy to the secret existence of Lisa and has limited use of her capabilities end up procreating with her. Unfortunately for Chett, I don't think he actually got to do the deed, she just has an immaculate conception.

In the FINAL episode, feuding school clubs result in Lisa for what inane and improbable reasons summons the most intelligent race of aliens to visit Farber High. In a spin off of "Independence Day", they wreak havoc and destroy a lot of stuff.

Meanwhile, a romantic relationship between Lisa and Wyatt is finally revealed, and depraved teen Gary is disappointed to find out the perfect woman has been in love with his best friend for some time. The aliens declare to destroy the entire school at the stroke of 3:00, and everyone gathers inside for the end of civilization. Acting as the calvary, Chett arrives to save them a short time later, and is also soured to find out Wyatt and Lisa are a couple (well, Chett DID have HER baby just the week before!).

As status quo with the series, bully Chett is forced into an alliance with his archenemy Principal Scampi. The last hope is for everyone to build a suit to pass someone off as one of the aliens, intending for them to board the ship and destroy it. Gary, realizing Lisa doesn't want him, decides to be the sacrificial hero. He dons the suit and heads outside; he is instantly killed by the aliens.

The aliens continue laying seige to the school. In their last few moments together, Lisa professes that she doen't truly love Wyatt, and they break up. Meanwhile, Principal Scampi is trapped under falling rubble. Chett comes to his aide, and is told that Scampi is really his father; this is why he's been so authorative over the span of Chett's life. Scampi dies in his arms a moment later, and Chett assigns himself as the replacement principal.

Just when it should end and the world it blown to smithereens, the aliens relent. Suddenly, the crossbreed alien version of Gary warps back into the school to tell Wyatt that after he was killed, the aliens meshed the two races and the warmonger aliens finally loosened up once they inherited his sense of humor. Also, Gary presents his hideously ugly alien wife, and everybody makes nice.

That's pretty much it. Clearly a deus ex machina, but still, two of the central characters died and Chett turned out to be quite a hero. What did everyone think of that as the end all to this series?

I didn't like it much. It had most of the problems of the final season: a plot that's just borrowed from a movie, and kind of a mean-spirited edge to the humor. The fun of the show in the first four seasons was how it combined fantasy with a sitcom plot about two guys and their older female friend Lisa. By this episode, they barely seemed to like each other.

Also, the show in the last season relied way too heavily on having Lisa's "wish" completely screw up and destroy everything. It worked better when the wishes sort of worked the way they were supposed to, but then the boys carried things too far. (Like the magical remote control or the robot.)

I loved this episode. The final season was a little off-the-wall compared to the rest, but I think that was a bit of the point. I think the writers knew this would be their last season so they went for the gold on Season 5. The only thing I didn't like was how centric it was about Chett and Lisa and how little Gary and Wyatt seemed to have a part in it. The show was all about the dynamic duo and Lisa for 3 and a half seasons, then Chett seemed to become way more centric in his involving story lines.

I really do believe this series was one of those series (like Seinfeld) that paved the way for dynamically evolving characters in a sitcom. It started off good, and it was funny; but then it just nosedived into hilarity and craziness where sometimes the plots were more "WTF?" than just "Oh that's funny." The characters seemed to get more insane, Wyatt loosened up a lot more and stopped being the typical "nerdy sitcom geek" that shows like Saved By the Bell brought us, and more into a real character.

I love this series for many reasons, and the fact that the last episode had me saying "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS EPISODE" and laughing the whole time is just a testament to the fact that the writers of this show not only had the viewer wanting more, but their insane plot switches (not twists, just changing direction: IE Lisa leaving Chett for Wyatt after one episode previously he had her baby, and then subsequently leaving Wyatt as well all in the same episode) were just well thought up. This final season was MEANT to have a lot of curve balls, and it was fantastic!

Yuck, yuck, yuck. I'm glad I'll never see this abomination.

I'm not sure if I ever saw this episode but it sounds vaguely familiar and quite off the wall. Sounds like a weird end to the series but I guess it's better than just ending without resolution. Nice to wrap things up.

I got exhausted reading that.
