Doctor Who "bookends"
Noticed this on Netflix and thought I'd give the first episode a look. Previously, I'd only seen a couple of random episodes of the show. After then looking through the episode descriptions, I thought I had found some previously unnoticed trivia...
In the first episode that Netflix has, "Songs of Praise", you can see Peter Capaldi (about two decades before he began playing the twelfth Doctor on "Doctor Who") with an incredible mop of hair - it's almost worth watching the episode just for that. In the series finale, "The Vicar in White", Geraldine's bridesmaids are dressed as "Doctor Who" (tenth incarnation as played by David Tennant) and a couple of Daleks.
Thought it cute and worthy of note, if it didn't quite rise to the level of trivia - as an American I can't be sure, but I suspect Peter Capaldi appearances on British TV aren't all that uncommon and I'd be willing to bet that when "Doctor Who" was rebooted in 2005, references to it on other BBC shows weren't either. Finding out that "Songs of Praise" was actually the second episode and not the pilot pretty much sealed it. Not sure why the first episode isn't available on Netflix streaming, but that's another topic.
