Such a cozy show

I recently purchased the complete Vicar of Dibley and am making my way through it. I watch an episode just about every day with my morning tea and am always amazed at how warm and...well...fuzzy..this show seems to be so continuously. I'd seen a few episodes here and there but am loving it in it's entirety.

Yes it is! It always amazes me how easy it is for dawn fremch to make me feel so good about the world and myself...and it's not that easy most of the time
I think it's my number one of all shows I have seen so far....

Just finished it. I must say that even after being raised on a multitude of British comedies and films (Absolutely Fabulous being #1 since my early teens) this is probably my favorite so far as well. As far fetched as the characters were they all embodied and stuck with them faithfully until the end. Loved every second of it.

Thank God for YouTube---I haven't seen this show in a decade, which is the last time I remember PBS showing it, Hell, I didn't even know it was still going on until 2007---PBS ran ARE YOU BEING SERVED for damn near 30 years,so why the heck couldn't they have shown this is well? As much as I liked AYBS, I also enjoyed this show for the brief time PBS showed it. I'm checking out "The Handsome Stranger" now, and it actually made me chuckle a couple of times. I heard it was optioned for an American remake, but that never jumped off, seeing how touchy U.S. stations are about shows dealing with religion,so that's no big surprise.

AcidRaina, you're actually right about the feeling of the show--to me, it's not so much fuzzy as it is warm, centered, and down to earth--it does that feel that to it that I like too. Plus I like the crazy as hell eccentric characters in it--I love shows with characters like that! Nice to know it's on DVD somewhere! And I like Dawn French, too--she brings so much life, warmth and joy to her character---plus it's nice for a change to see a plus-size woman starring in the lead in a show for once! You rarely see that on TV nowadays (except for the new show MIKE & MOLLY, that is).

It does run regularly - my local PBS station just ran the first episode again this week. But I believe each PBS station makes its own decisions about which shows to buy.

2000 PBS in the Denver Colorado area played the first 2 seasons. That was it.
I just dusted off my VHS recording & watched them 2 weeks ago. I noticed the dated recorded. 14 years ago!
Just yesterday my wife gave me the complete series for my Birthday! Starting them over, & running though the entire series. Loving It!!

I've started a rewatch from Series 1 Episode 1. They don't disappoint :)

You're absolutely right. Even though the show can be edgy, rude, and down right dirty sometimes, it's always cozy. There's a real warmth to this show. I think that's why it's so popular. It manages to be inoffensive and yet hilarious which is not easy to do.

The show never fails to make me laugh. It kind of makes you feel like you're "going home". I don't think I'd mind living in Dibley and I think Dawn French was perfect. All of them were cast so well and the writing! Wish more shows were like VOD.

Are the red nosed specials on YouTube? I don't know how to see them, unless they release another DVD.

Thank you, EllenRipley. Those episodes were funny! I wish they'd do just a few more episodes. But it wouldn't be the same without Owen.

Oh, hey, you're most welcome.

I can't believe I was only about five when The Vicar of Dibley started.
