It has got to be Harry's proposal. I just love happy endings and the vicar deserved to get her man:-)

"No no no no no no no no parking is allowed on the upper field!"

So many good moments, but Jim trying to explain the village festival parking arrangments, thinking that he's making it crystal clear, has stuck in my memory for years :D

"No no no no no no no no parking is allowed on the upper field!"

And there are "No no no no no no no refreshments available in the refreshment tent"

That and the full monty scene are never to be forgotten!!!

David telling Hugo that if he marries Alice, Hugo will have NOTHING from his new will.Hugo says he will have everything.

reply

Oh Boy the first thing that came to my mind was the Episode when she falls for Harry and she thinks he is in love with another woman but it's his sister....The dream where they are at the church and she interupts their wedding and Alice gives him "The Bird" lol The look on Alice's face is priceless

GET ON WITH IT YOU STRANGE AND INSANE IDIOT!

OK so if you've all finished pissing around hey you get that bloody elbow up!

reply

I love the whole "It should have been me" fantasy part in the wedding episode, it makes me crack up everytime. And Hugo and Alice's wedding has to be my favourite episode after that, just for the part where Alice faints after the woman realises she's in the wrong church.

...she said, 'Walk on over to this bit of shade; I will wrap you in my arms.'...

reply

Me, too!

"It should have been me" song - It's stuck in my head. How do they think of those things, putting that song in there? And her actions (she socks the bride, and as an afterthought, socks Harry, too). They put a sparkle in his teeth when he smiles at her. And the dance number with the "the boys." It's absolutely fabulous.

But there are so many memorable moments, it's hard to pick a favorite.

Another one is at the meeting at beginning of the show, Jim tells of the time that he'd been on "Deal or No Deal" show. He picks a block. They ask him, "Do you want a deal, or no deal?" Jim says he said, "No no no no no....deal." To his puzzlement, they thought he meant "no deal," so he didn't win.

I also liked "No no no no no__parking on the outer field."

I think the ending of the episode where Geraldine shows the council the video about stopping poverty in Africa. The final shots of them all in the white armbands as she turns to them is absolutely beautiful. Followed up by shots of them wearing the armbands (instead of the standard joke between Geraldine and Alice) always brings me to tears.

reply

Yes! I just re-watched the series, and was reduced to a sobbing mess at that scene. So full of heart and passion.

reply

A memorable scene for me, too. I loved them all in that moment.

reply

I have so many it's hard to pick just one, so I'll list my top three. There are a lot more but these are great.

1. The episode where the vicar is depressed because Simon broke her heart and the town makes a banner to cheer her up so she won't leave. She makes a comment about taking a vacation and leaving Frank in charge of Sunday services and they all say no. Jim's reaction is the best of all!!

2. "The Dibley poisoner makes her rounds." And the easter bunny episode where Leticia asks the vicar if her cooking and recipies would be legendary. Leticia Cropley was probably my favourite character aside from the vicar.

3. When David proposed and when he asked the vicar to stay in the end-joke sequence. Those scenes really helped redeem David in my opinion.

reply

YES! Rarely has a one-word line in a sit-com been so moving.

David: "Stay."

Almost brings me to tears every time.

reply

All of the above.... and...

Geraldine dancing in the ballet tutu.... we almost split a gut laughing!!!!

I have a plan. It's a plan so cunning, you could stick a nose on it and call it a fox!

reply

Easter episode when Owen says (something like)"any more rabbits and we can stage a production of BLOODY Watership Down!!"

reply

Sooo many!

1) The "I can't believe it's not butter" speech

2) Geraldine jumping in the puddle to hide from Harry and Rosie

3) The scene where Geraldine does the service drunk after Simon has broken her heart and she shuffles in and sings "five gold rings" and insults David

4) Hugo and Alice's first kiss

5) Alice's decorating the Horton's living room pink and then giving the George Stubbs painting to Geraldine
