Sarah Brown

Last night I streamed an episode of this show on Netflix. What episode? Must've been the 9th or 10th, from Season 1. It's the one where J.B. goes to Kaitlin's workplace to work on the computer and gets sucked in by Grimlord and held captive. With a situation like this facing the protagonists, no doubt they'll get a little emotional, and who better to play that out than the female who can actually act?! I mean, sure, Ryan is the strong guy, level-headed leader, and consequently, the female - and only female - of the team is tasked with this job of conveying the urgency and sobriety of such a scenario to the audience. Imagine! how disastrous, how dismally! your average actress on a kid's show would fare in such circumstances! I don't fancy any actress from the Power Rangers series would've played these scenes out as well as Sarah Brown did. Do you think they could? Try imagining it! Hurts your brain doesn't it? Don't faint yet friend! The phrase "Down with the Brown!" does not apply here!

I was impressed, though I don't consider myself much of a judge or film buff with enough experience to discern truly good acting from bad (Denzel and Will Smith are godlike in my...novella [get my drift?], if that counts for anything), but nonetheless, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and surprise at how well Sarah Brown delivered such an authentic performance doing just about everything short of crying. Even with these milder - though no less effective - behaviors she managed to make just the right impact without needing to go to cheesy extremes.

It's pretty funny when you compare her acting skills with the other two (at least within the context of this specific episode; generally speaking, Brad Hawkins was decent throughout the show's run...but, Michael Bacon, oh my...), though, to be fair, they don't seem to have been as passionate about really getting somewhere in the industry as Sarah, as evidenced by the stars' profiles on this site.

Just go watch that episode and you will see what I am talking about.

P.S. - I'm bored, so don't take this too seriously!

I own it, and I know what you mean. Scared for JB's life wasn't she?

reply

Hey, wait a sec...you own it? As in physical copy? If so, I'm guessing it's VHS, in which case, cool. I'm glad you understand me. I thought people would see differently.---"You don't understand anything man. Leave your STUPID comments in your pocket!"-Mark

Yup, it's on VHS. I guess i'm one of the rare ones to have it lol. With that said, i'm probably gonna be one of the rare ones to respond to this thread. It's sad that this show is so obscure.

You're right. It sucks that it ended so suddenly but given the fact that it's action footage is composed of that from 3 different shows, I can't be surprised. Michael Bacon's acting is just so funny though; definitely one of the top sources of lolz when I watch it. I wonder what he ended up doing after it ended? Just living a "normal" life I suppose...
