Royal protocol

In the scenes with FU attending the King at Buckingham Palace, there are a couple of occasions where he turns his back on the king to walk out of the room. I was under the impression this is in breach of protocol when in the presence of the reigning monarch?

As far as I know, it is--and it's likely done purposely to show Urquhart's contempt of him. After all, in a climactic scene he tells the King directly that his (Urquhart's) ancestors were Scottish aristos when the King's forebears were nothing at all. Whether or not that's actually true it certainly shows that FU holds the monarch in low enough esteem, so no surprise he'd have no qualms about displaying it in such an open breach of etiquette.
