What happend to Spence's wife Megan?

In the pilot Spence married Megan and thats how he became the father of Jessica. So why did she suddenly disappear after the pilot. I was young when I watch this. And that tidbit bugged me.

That was the pilot movie. When they made the first season they dropped her and her hotel.

She was hot, they should have kept her. And Spence needed a love interest.

She was. There was episodes they discussed it. Hurricane said at first it was a sham, but they did fall in love. That's why he has the kid, and sometimes the guy from Avengers (her father) is a prick to him.
