just bought the complete collection...

...from Best Buy the other day, and I have a couple of questions. First off, I understand from reading online reviews that for many people's sets, the first of the six discs in the set only shows four out of seven episodes. I haven't started watching mine yet, but if the first disc turns out to be defective, is there any way I can correct this issue short of getting a replacement? My other question is about content. I haven't actually watched this series in a long while (since it played on UPN) and was wondering if there was any content that would be considered objectionable to show to someone around 13-14 years of age. Thanks.

I havent had any problems with my DVDs,where did you read this?

As for the content, well it is somewhat violent.I think itll be ok tho

reply

I think it was one of the user reviews on bestbuy.com, although I've watched mine since then - I was able to watch eps. 5-7, but only on my brother's computer; on the DVD player in the living room, it wouldn't play past ep. 4.

I have the 3 volumes(2 discs each) not the 6 disc boxset,so that maybe the difference.

Sorry that your having problems.

Okay, so I thought it was only disc one of volume one that didn't work properly. However, I just got back to watching Teknoman this weekend (really tired from work and other stuff) and discovered... to my unpleasant surprise, that disc one of volume two also had problems. Like the 1st disc of vol.1, when I got to the fifth episode on the disc, it stopped playing, so I thought I'd finish watching it on my brother's computer, like before. Unfortunately, episode 19 cut out about halfway through and episode 21 did the same almost right after the opening. Despite numerous attempts to try to watch them again, those episodes refused to play and I ended up watching them online. I've since checked the backs of both discs for scratches - didn't find any, but I found something else. On each of the problematic discs, near the center, there was a greyish ring around the hole in the middle that seemed to have... leaked (for lack of a better term); not reflective like the disc's surface, but a duller gray. I checked one of the other discs to be sure and the center part looked normal. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if this could be why some of the episodes don't/won't play? Thanks.

It seems like you are watching the US version. The version I watched was Japanese version, which contains the following things that may not be proper for audiences under 18.

1, there's a cross-dressing character who always talk and dress like a woman, and this character was emphasized in particular situations for joking purpose.

2, there's some brief female front nudity in the middle of the series, though it's very roughly drawn, you can tell the sex organs on the body.

3, some scenes could be considered too brutal and bloody to watch, including some futuristic version of crucifixion....

4, the story is ultra-sad.

BUT AFTER ALL IT'S AWESOME TO WATCH AND WAS ONE OF THE BEST STORY EVER TOLD IN CARTOON FORM.

Bought last year the set ,and all the episodes play fine on mine.

This is the FIRST that I've heard about glitches, in the individual collections!
[I bought the boxed set, a week ago!]

They all work fine, for me!

Sorry, to hear that you're having problems!

Do you have more-than-one DVD player? Try playing it on another player, to see if you still have the problem!
(Sometimes, it's just a simple glitch in your player!)
