Time Limit?

I was wondering did his time limit go away after he evolved to the next level of Teknoman.I was thinking it did after he upgraded and the only side affects were the loss of memory.

reply

No it didnt. Watch the last episode and you will see that it is still there in his evolved mode.

reply

Yeah I watched it but in the episodes before that it just seems like he wore himself out and then had the amnesia kick in after transformed to the evolved state.

Sorta like how Blade said you lose your humanity when you become one of them and thats why there was the amnesia because you no longer human, you one of them?

reply

I think you are wrong master_ryuhayabusa. Think about it. Saber, Axe, Sword, and Darkon all have memories of Blade and some of the evil Teknomen can remember details of their previous life. So it stands to reason that Blade never lost them in the first place.

I think Blade only lost his memories when he had that crash in the pilot episode.

reply

I can't remember how it goes in the US version, but in the original, he was lying about his memories.

There was, however, memory loss in the English versions. It comes later, and IS a result of the Tekkaman process.

Your arguments are both respected and honorable!

I just finished watching the Boxed Set, and offer further insight, on TEKNOMAN (U.S. version?)...

After reuniting with Cmdr. Jamison, he informs Blade that his PHYSICAL STATE (NOT MENTAL), is deteriorating -- as each transformation overtaxes his body (even Darkon comments on this!), which is the reason for ADVANCING Blade's TEKNO-powers beyond their limit!

{It's your basic "burn-out" scenario: when you burn a lightbulb, that's twice as bright, it'll burn-out in half of the time!}

Cmdr. Jamison even warns Blade that there might be side-effects, but he wasn't sure what, until Blade's memories began fading...!

The 21st Century is when everything changes, and you've got to be ready!

Yes, the previous-to-previous poster is correct -- in the Japanese version, Blade fakes his memory loss in the beginning of the series; and in an ironic twist of fate, he suffers memory loss after transforming into Blastor Blade.

In the US version of Teknoman, from what I remember, they make it look as if he actually has amnesia from the beginning, but then I think they drop subtle hints that he's faking (though they never explicitly mention it).

Didnt know in the Japanese he faked his memory loss.

I do remember that in the English version in the second episode when they are approaching Dagger's lair Blade says something like. 'There is something. It is important.' and then "Its gone now."

When Jameison mentions the name Nick Carter, Blade goes 'yes that is my name' as if he finally remembered it.

So I don't think Blade was lying in the English version. Well not too much at any rate.

^The scene in the U.S./international version where Blade/Slade tells his story seems like it could go either way.

Because when they approach him about it, doesn't he say something like "I could tell you, but I don't believe it myself," because I remember watching it for the first time thinking "wait, did he lie that ENTIRE time?"

Unless they tried to show that it JUST came back, and in that moment when it came back, he couldn't believe it himself.

Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things: Jack and sh*t and Jack left town

Exactly, lines like that hint that he lied about amnesia. Other things, such as how he knows how to use a computer (in Ep. 4), are even questioned by Star/Aki herself. He probably just played along with his lie up until he told his back-story... Even lines like "It's gone now" (Ep 2), can still be explained away even if he was really faking in the US dub.
