Does anyone know why they switched actors for Todd & Lila half way thru the series between season 2 & 3?

I managed to ask this question way back in 2009 when I carried out an interview w/ her for a site I was co-running at the time. So I'll copy/paste you her response below.
Why did you end up leaving the show after Season 2, and did you continue to watch the following two seasons? If so, were there any storylines you would have liked to have done?share
BF: I quit the show because it was time to pursue other avenues. It was a bittersweet decision, but the right one for me. Also, Ryan and I were having some difficulties with one of the producers on the show that did not want us dating. My agent asked that I be let out of my contract and after some verbal sparring, they finally released me. I never saw the show again.
I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of Ryan J Bittle as Todd but then again, I hated the way a lot of the characters had been written for the TV series but whilst Bridget did a really good job as a Lila I always thought Shirlee Elliot (who seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth) was a better fit as Lila in terms of looks.
shareI was okay with Ryan as Todd, I didn't care for the new Todd at all. Shirlee's Lila fit more into what I thought Lila was like in the books, though but most of the show's characters were shadows of themselves with the exception of Bruce in season 1.
